Hot Toys Valkyrie Thor: Love and Thunder Figure Reveal

Hot Toys definitely has a soft spot when it comes to the God of Thunder. Over the years they’ve released a number of different Thor sixth-scale figures from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a recent Thor: Love and Thunder figure based on the last big screen outing of everyone’s favorite Asgardian ass kicker.

Now, Hot Toys has yet unveiled yet another new sixth-scale figure from across the Rainbow Bridge in the form of their upcoming Valkyrie Thor: Love and Thunder figure.

If you haven’t seen Thor: Love and Thunder yet (minor spoilers ahead), in the film Valkyrie has been appointed by Thor as the King of the fledgling New Asgard colony on Earth. But when the intergalactic menace known as Gorr the God Butcher emerges, Valkyrie once again picks up her trusty Dragonfang sword and joins forces with both the classic Thor and the newly-minuted Jane Foster Thor, to defend her people.

This particular Hot Toys Valkyrie figure stands at 11.2″ inches tall and includes 26 points of articulation. It also features a newly developed head sculpt and body, complete with new custom armor and cape. In addition, the figure includes a range of new weapons and accessories, including her iconic Dragonfang sword, a pair of daggers and Zeus’ Thunderbolt (with effect). It also features Korg (or what’s left him), the hilarious granite-skinned alien who’s reduced to nothing more than a face after taking a lighting bolt to the body by Zeus (you can actually attach Korg’s face to the back of Valkyrie’s head, which is pretty damn amazing).

The figure is expected to be released sometime in late 2023 or early 2024, but if you’re eager to get your hands on it, you can pre-order it now from Sideshow Collectibles.

What’s Included

According to Hot Toys, the upcoming Valkyrie Love and Thunder figure will include:

Accessories

  • Handpainted new head sculpt based on Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder
  • Newly developed body with 26 points of articulations and seamless elbow joints
  • Six interchangeable hands, including:

  • One yellow gradient thunderbolt effect accessory
The various accessories and weapons that come with the new Hot Toys Valkyrie figure from the film Thor: Love and Thunder.

How is this different than the previous Hot Toys Valkyrie figure?

This isn’t the first time Hot Toys has paid tribute to the legendary winged warrior. In fact, in 2017 they released a Thor: Ragnarok Valkyrie figure, which beautifully captured the first appearance of the character (that particular figure has since been sold out). This newest version, however, isn’t just a rehash of the old Valkyrie figure. In fact both the head and body are new and the quality actually looks much better than the original 2017 release (with Hot Toys techniques and technology improving significantly over the past five years).

Below are a few images, showcasing the look and feel of the new figure.

Final Thoughts

While we still have to wait a few months more before we can get our hands on this figure, if you’re a fan of Valkyrie (and Thor in general), this looks one sixth-scale addition that would be perfect for your collection. It is likely to sell out quickly though (especially with overseas orders) so if you’re really hoping to get one you can pre-order now from Sideshow Collectibles.

Hot Toys Book of Boba Fett Droids Reveal

Hot Toys has definitely been on a kick in a galaxy far, far away, unveiling a ton of new figures from the Star Wars universe, including most recently a sixth-scale Cobb Vanth from The Mandalorian Disney+ series. Now, they’ve turned their attention to the often overlooked world of droids, announcing several new Hot Toys Book of Boba Fett figures, including astromech R5-D4, the pint-sized BD-72 and a plucky Pit Droid.

If you haven’t seen either The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett, these three droids appeared in several episodes, helping to repair ships in a run down hangar in the Mos Eisley Spaceport on Tatooine. In the two series, the droids are owned by Peli Motto, a scrappy mechanic played to hilarious perfection by actress Amy Sedaris.

If they look even more familiar though, sharp-eyed Star Wars fans might also remember seeing R5-D4 (or a droid very similar looking to him), in Episode IV: A New Hope, with the unit shutting down and coughing up smoke after Uncle Owen purchased it from a group of Jawas. Similarly, Pit Droids first appeared in Episode I: The Phantom Menace to help maintain pod racers, while BD-72 actually first made an appearance in the Jedi: Fallen Order video game.

In their latest Hot Toys incarnation, the three droids will be sold together in one single collection and are scheduled for release sometime between the third and fourth quarters of 2023. As with all Hot Toys figures though, quantities will be limited, so if you’re absolutely dying to get your servos on one, they are currently available for pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles.

R5-D4 Astromech Droid

Standing approximately 20cm tall, the sixth-scale R5-D4 figure includes:

  • Hand painted mechanical body in red, blue and white, and weathering effects
  • Detailed mechanical construction with seven points of articulations
  • Special features, including:
    • Head supports 360° horizontal rotation
    • One pair of articulated terrain tread legs
    • One articulated and retractable center tread leg
    • Highly accurate mechanical body design

Accessories

  • Two interchangeable antennas
  • One bad motivator
  • One restraining bolt (with magnetic function)
  • One hologram projector

Pit Droid

Standing approximately 22 cm tall, the sixth-scale Hot Toys Pit Droid figure will include:

  • Hand painted mechanical body with reddish brown color and weathering effects
  • Specially constructed mechanical structure with 18 points of articulation
  • Special features, including:
    • One pair of articulated mechanical graspers
    • Highly accurate mechanical body design
    • Enhanced articulation on waist which allows movement including 360° horizontal spin

BD-72 Mini-Droid

The BD-72 figures stands just 8 cm tall, and includes:

  • Handpainted mechanical body in greyish white applied, with subtle weathering effects
  • Highly accurate mechanical body design including robotic lens and wire details
  • Detailed mechanical structure with 8 points of articulations
A view of all the accessories and items included with the Hot Toys Book of Boba Fett droid collection.

Will the three figures be available for purchase separately?

It doesn’t yet look like the figures will be available seperately, but that may change after their release. In fact, we’ve seen other combo characters in the past. For example, when the Hot Toys What If…? figures were released, you could purchase the Hydra Stomper unit separately from the Steve Rogers figure. For now though, these three droids are sticking together.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a Hot Toys collector and fan of the Book of Boba Fett or The Mandalorian, chances are you’ll dig these these droids (they would look pretty solid posed next to either Boba or Mando). Of course, with the figures not expected until later on in 2023, you’ll have to bide your time or pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles. In the meantime, these look like one collection you don’t have to be a Jawa to appreciate.

Hot Toys Black Adam Figure Reveal

With the Black Adam movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hitting the big screen soon, DC is betting big on the character – who, let’s face, isn’t exactly a household name among mainstream audiences. So it’s no surprise that a new Hot Toys Black Adam figure is on its way.

While the figure won’t be available for purchase for a few more months, it’s yet another example of Hot Toys dipping its toes in the cinematic DC Extended Universe, and comes right on the heels of another recent announcement for the upcoming Hot Toys Batman tactical suit figure, based on the Zack Snyder Justice League film.

If you haven’t seen the movie trailer or know much about Black Adam, he’s a classic DC comic book supervillain who originally gained his powers in ancient Egypt and would later go on to become the arch enemy of Shazam and the Marvel Family. Over the years, his character has gone through a number of different incarnations, and in the new film is portrayed by The Rock as more of anti-hero than a world destroying bad ass.

In the case of the new Hot Toys Black Adam sixth-scale figure, they’ll actually be three versions available when it’s released: a Standard Version, a Deluxe Version and a Golden Armor version (we break out the details on each option below).

Each version will stand just under 13-inches tall and include 30 points of articulation in the hands, arms, legs, neck, feet and body. The figure is scheduled for release sometime between the end of 2023 and early 2024 and is currently available for pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles.

What’s Included

Below are the specific accessories, items and weapons the figure will come with once it’s available.

Accessories

  • Hand painted head sculpt based on likeness of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Black Adam
  • Six interchangeable hands, including:
    • One pair of fists
    • One pair of relaxed hands
    • One pair of gesturing hands
  • One pair of blue lightning effects (attachable to forearms)
  • One pair of blue lightning effects (attachable to upper body)
  • A themed figure stand with movie logo and character name

Costume

  • One black fabric cape with patterns in gold color (embedded with bendable wire)
  • One weathered gray costume with armlet, knee pad and LED-lighted lightning emblem
  • One belt
  • One pair of black forearm gauntlets
  • One pair of black boots
All of the accessories, weapons and costumes included with the Deluxe Version of the Hot Toys Black Adam sixth-scale figure.

What’s the differences between the three versions of the figure?

As mentioned earlier, there will actually be three versions available:

  • A Standard Version: This includes a hand-painted head sculpt with movable eyes, a fabric cape, interchangeable hands, blue lightning effects, an LED light up chest plate and a display stand.
  • A Deluxe Version: Everything in the standard version, plus an additional head sculpt of Black Adam with moveable eyes.
  • A Golden Armor Version: Everything in the Deluxe Version, but replaces the standard armor with a gold plated version and changes the lighting effects from blue to yellow.

Below are a few images, showcasing the new look and feel of the figure in its various incarnations.

Final Thoughts

While it remains to be seen if the Black Adam film lives up the hype, If you’re a fan of the character, the Rock or the DCEU though, chances are you’ll want to pick this bad boy up as it’s available. Stay tuned to this space as well as we’ll be covering more news about the Hot Toys Black Adam figure in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, you can pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles.

Hot Toys Batman Tactical Suit Figure Reveal

These days it seems like you can’t chuck a batarang without hitting a new Hot Toys Batman figure (the most recent being The Deluxe Batman figure based on the 2022 Robert Pattison film, and a rerelease of the Christian Bale Dark Knight figure).

Now, Hot Toys has a new addition to the sixth-scale Bat fam in the form of their upcoming Batman tactical suit figure.

Technically, this is actually an update to a figure originally released back in 2018 to coincide with the theatrical version of the Justice League film. In the movie, the tactical Batsuit is created by Bruce Wayne as a way to provide some much-needed firepower when the League takes on an invading army of Parademons; flying instectoid aliens from the dark dimension known as Apokalips. The tactical suit is really an upgraded version of Batman’s standard costume in the film, and includes armored plating, extra weaponry and specialized goggles that provide heads up combat data. Whether or not you dug the original theatrical release or are a fan of the longer “Snyder Cut” released on HBO Max, you have to admit Bats did look pretty bad ass in the tactical suit.

This new soon-to-be-released (or is that rereleased?) Hot Toys Batman figure will stand at 12.9″ inches tall, include 30 points of articulation and feature a cowled head sculpt with interchangeable eye pieces and mouths based on Ben Affleck’s facial expressions. It also includes a series of interchangeable goggles, a specialized body with new textures and battle-damage, movie-accurate Batarangs, grapple guns and Bat gadgets, and a Parademon assault rifle (because, apparently interdimensional monsters are the once exception to Batman’s “don’t use guns” rule). As an added touch, the figure also comes with a new diorama base complete with painted lava and weathering details.

The figure is scheduled for release sometime between the end of 2023 and early 2024 and is available for pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles.

What’s Included

Below are the specific accessories, items and weapons the figure will come with once it’s available.

Accessories

  • Authentic, hand-painted head sculpts based on Ben Affleck as Batman
  • Three interchangeable eye pieces
  • There interchangeable lower part of faces capturing different facial expressions
  • Seven interchangeable gloved hands, including:
    • One pair of fists
    • One pair of relaxed hands
    • One pair of hands for holding weapons
    • One right hand for holding Batarangs
  • Specially designed Parademon diorama base

Costume

  • One Batsuit with grey-colored armor plates, dark grey-colored straps and gold-colored hooks
  • Two pairs of interchangeable goggles with dark colored lenses
  • One black-colored cape
  • One utility belt
  • One pair of black boots with grey-colored armor plates

Weapons

  • One Parademon gun
  • Three Batarangs
  • Three Bat grenades
  • Two grapple guns
  • One grappling hook (in opened mode, attachable to the grapple gun)
  • Two grappling hooks (in closed mode, attachable to the grapple gun)
  • One grappling hook (in straight motion, attachable to the grapple gun)
  • One grappling hook (in curved motion, attachable to the grapple gun)
All of the accessories, weapons and costumes included with the Hot Toys Batman sixth-scale tactical suit figure.

How is this different than other Hot Toys Batman figures?

As mentioned above, technically this isn’t a new figure and is really a rerelease/upgrade of an older figure from 2018. That being said, it does include a number of new accessories, costume pieces and weapons that weren’t available in the original Hot Toys Batman figure.

Below are a few images, showcasing the new look and feel of the figure.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a fan of Batman or Snyder’s Justice League film though, chances are you’ll dig this fig. Stay tuned to this space as well as we’ll be covering more news about the Hot Toys Batman tactical suit in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, if you’re absolutely dying to secure yours, pre-orders are available from Sideshow Collectibles.

Hot Toys Spider-Man W.E.B. Figure Reveal

Over the past few years, there have been a whole whack-load of new Hot Toys Spider-Man figures, with everything from more offbeat additions like Spider Punk and Cyborg Spider-Man, to MCU classics like the Black and Gold Suit Spider-Man from No Way Home.

Recently, at Disney’s annual D23 fan expo, Hot Toys unveiled yet another new sixth-scale wall crawler in the form of their upcoming W.E.B. of Spider-Man figure.

This exclusive release is inspired largely by the Spidey suit featured in Disney’s Avengers Campus (which if you aren’t familiar is a massive Marvel-themed area located in Disneyland). The figure also borrows heavily from the 2021 comic book series W.E.B of Spider-Man, which is geared towards younger readers in which a teenaged Peter Parker is recruited by Tony Stark to work with other heroes in a new organization known as the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (or W.E.B for short).

The new Hot Toys Spider-Man figure stands at 11.2″ inches tall and includes 30 points of articulation. It also features a masked head sculpt with multiple pairs of interchangeable Spider-Man eye pieces to create different expressions (now a hallmark of Hot Toys’ Spider-Man figures). The figure also includes a new fabric version of the class red and blue suit, a realistic fabric W.E.B. hoodie, a backpack, a spider bot, assorted spider-web shooting effect parts and, of course, a custom figure stand.

While pricing and a pre-orders aren’t available just yet, you may want to keep a close eye on the Sideshow Collectibles website, since they’re the official North American and European distributor of Hot Toys and will have first dibs on making the figure available for purchase. In the meantime, we break out below what you can expect if you do manage to get your web shooters on this bad boy.

What’s Included

According to Hot Toys, the new W.E.B of Spider-Man release will include:

Accessories

  • One masked head sculpt
  • Five interchangeable eye pieces featuring a variety of expressions
  • Interchangeable hands with black web pattern, including:
    • One pair of fists
    • One pair of relaxed hands
    • One pair of open hands
    • One pair of hands for web shooting
    • One pair of hands for web swinging
  • One backpack
  • One spider bot
  • Six web strings in different shapes and lengths (attachable to web-shooters)
  • One open spider web effect accessory
  • A dynamic figure stand with W.E.B. logo and Spider-Man nameplate

Costume

  • One newly tailored red and blue Spider-Man costume (based on the suit worn at Disneyland’s Avenger Campus theme area)
  • One pair of silver web-shooters
  • One grey-colored hoodie featuring the W.E.B. logo
All of the accessories and items included with the Hot Toys Spider-Man W.E.B. sixth-scale figure.

How is this different than other Hot Toys Spider-Man figures?

This isn’t the first time Hot Toys has released Classic Spider-Man costume and a variety of other Spidey suits. The main selling point, however, is the new costume (which as noted above is based on the suit worn by cast members at Disneyland’s Avengers Campus theme area). To be fair, the suit does look pretty awesome, with some unique textures and the inclusion of the new web shooters and spider-bot.

The W.E.B. hoodie and backpack are also new additions (although the Miles Morales Bodega Cat Suit also includes its own unique hoodie and backpack combo).

Below are a few images, showcasing the new look and feel of the figure.

Final Thoughts

While pre-orders aren’t available just yet, the figure is expected to ship in early 2023 (you can always check out the Sideshow Collectibles website for news and signups). Chances are though it’ll be scooped up quickly by both Disney and Marvel fans. Stay tuned to this space as well as we’ll be covering more news about the figure in the weeks ahead.

Hot Toys Iron Man Neon Tech Rerelease

If you’re an Iron Man fan, this latest Hot Toys news will definitely have your arc reactors humming. That’s because the company just announced that they’ll be re-releasing their popular (and now incredibly hard to come by) Iron Man Neon Tech figure.

If you’re not familiar with this particular sixth-scale figure, it was actually first released by Hot Toys as a New York Comic-Con exclusive way back in 2018 and was quickly scooped up by fans. (Not to be confused with the Hot Toys Iron Man Neon Tech 4.0, which we’ve previously reviewed).

This latest 2023 reissue, however, is more than just slapping on a fresh coat of paint on an old sculpt. Instead, it will also feature a Neon Tech version of the Iron Man’s infamous suit up gantry; the series of computer-controleld mechanical arms that helped Tony Stark don his legendary armor and which were first featured in Iron Man 2.

The rereleased diecast metal figure will stand at a hefty 12.6″ tall, with 30 points of articulation. The paint work once again has a major “Tron” vibe going for it, with the all-black armor accented by neon blue lights with a ton of built-in LED functionality and a special paint that actually lights up under certain specialized lights that are included.

The figure also features an assortment of interchangeable hands, multiple swap out armor pieces and a new display base. A special bonus version (which unfortunately is only available in Hot Toys flagship Shangai store location) will also include an added translucent mask and armored chest piece.

The figure is due for sometime in early 2023, and while pricing and pre-orders haven’t been revealed yet, you may want to keep a close eye on the Sideshow Collectibles website, since they’re the official North American and European distributor of Hot Toys.

What’s Included

According to Hot Toys, the Neon Tech Iron Man rerelease will include the following Stark-approved sixth-scale bells and whistles:

Accessories

  • One Iron Man 2 movie accurate head sculpt with LED light-up functionality
  • Eight pieces of interchangeable hands, including:
    • One pair of fists
    • One pair of hands with articulated fingers and LED light-up repulsors
    • One pair of LED repulsor firing hands
    • One pair of laser firing hands

Armor Details

The diecast armor includes black and teal paintwork and a luminous reflective patterns that appear under a specialized LED lighting unit. LED lighting is also visible through the sides of the body and the forearms. The armor also includes:

  • LED powered circle-shaped arc reactor on the chest
  • One interchangeable armored chest plate
  • Two sets of interchangeable forearm armor (normal and missile firing)
  • Articulated flaps on the back of the armor on both legs
  • Fully deployable air flaps at the back of the armor
  • Multi-layered waist armor with enhanced articulations allowing for more flexible movement

Weapons

The figure also comes with a couple of added high-calibre items, including:

  • One pair of built-in shoulder missile launchers
  • One pair of attachable blue-colored laser accessories

Special Features

The sixth-scale suit-up gantry is what’s likely really going to get fans salivating over this rerelease and includes a movie-accurate mechanical design with realistic cables and wires. The gantry stands at approximately 16 inches tall and 24 inches wide with over 80 points of articulation and a completely new “Neon Tech” black and glowing blue paint job. It also includes:

  • Multiple LED light-up areas on the gantry base
  • Five flexible mechanical arms, including:
    • One left-side arm (for removing left forearm plating)
    • One right-side arm (for removing right forearm plating)
    • One front-side arm (for removing the chest armor)
    • One upper-back arm (for removing the helmet)
    • One lower-back arm (for removing the rear armor)
  • Four small mechanical arms for disarming the leg armor plating

Special Edition Accessories

If you’re somehow able to visit the Hot Toys flagship store in Shanghai, you can also score the exclusive store-only special edition. While it’s still not certain how much more this version will cost, you do get a couple of extra items, including:

  • One interchangeable translucent mask
  • One interchangeable translucent chest armor

Final Thoughts

With Hot Toys absolutely killing it when it comes to Iron Man sixth-scale figures, this limited edition rerelease is probably going to get scooped up quickly (assuming it’s available anytime soon). And while Hot Toys has yet to announce an official release date, if you’re absolutely dying to get your hands on this one you can always check out the Sideshow Collectibles website (we’ll also be keeping a close eye on any news about this figure in the weeks ahead).

The Mandalorian Cobb Vanth Hot Toys Figure Reveal

In the more news from the world of Hot Toys, the company recently unveiled their latest Star Wars sixth-scale figure. In this case it’s none other than Cobb Vanth, the popular gun-totting bad ass from The Mandalorian series on Disney+.

If you’re not familiar with Vanth, he was played by noted film and television actor Timothy Olyphant. The character appeared in several episodes and was originally the marshal of Mos Pelgo, a small, isolated town located in the desert frontier or Tatooine. Vanth first appeared in season 1 sporting the armor of Boba Fett, which he’d purchased from a group of scavenging Jawas (further proof that you can’t leave anything laying around in the Dune Sea).

The new Cobb Vanth figure stands at approximately 12.2″ tall and features Hot Toys’ usual 30 points of articulation in the arms, legs, head and torso. The figure also includes a helmeted and unhelmeted head sculpts, multiple interchangeable hands, a blaster pistol, a jet pack, a detachable rocket with firing effect, thruster effects for the jet pack, a bottle of delicious, delicious blue milk, and of course, a display stand.

Unlike other Hot Toys releases, there doesn’t yet appear to be either an alternate Deluxe version of the figure, and the standard Collector’s edition is going for $300 USD before taxes and shipping.

Final Thoughts

With Cobb Vanth now a fan-favorite among Mandalorian watchers, we’re looking forward to getting our hands on this sculpt whenever Hot Toys decides to release it (which let’s face it, can take awhile). The 25 Best Harley Quinn Covers Ever Made

While Harley Quinn may have started out as a punchline for the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, today she stands firmly on her own, having exploded onto the big screen in films like Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey, not to mention starring in her own animated television series, toys, statues, and of course, comic books. And while there are plenty of memorable issues featuring everyone’s favorite hammer and hyena-loving anti-heroine, today we’re looking purely at the best Harley Quinn covers of all time. In other words, we chose these issues because of their awesome cover art and not necessarily because they feature a key moment in the history of former psychiatrist-turned-psychopath, Dr. Harleen Quinn. To keep things simple, we’ve listed each issue in order of publication date, along with current prices and our reasons for why we picked each cover.

But enough joking around. Time to put on a happy face as we smash into… the 25 best Harley Quinn covers ever made.

  • Why We Picked It: While this key issue introduces one of Batman’s greatest foes in the form of Ra’s al Ghul, we chose it for this list simply because of the iconic Neal Adams cover which is incredibly cinematic in its use of action, style, color and design. Notably, Adams was given co-creator credits for Ra’s al Ghul and was even cut a check by Warner Bros. when the character was featured in Christopher Nolan’s 2005 Batman Begins film.

11. Batman #234

  • Published: August 1971
  • Estimated Price: $600 USD (Raw High Grade)
  • Why It’s a Key: Reintroduction of Two-Face after being absent from comics since 1954.
  • Why We Picked It: Under Neal Adams’ watch, this issue helped to establish the more modern look and feel of Two-Face after his somewhat more ghoulish (and green) Golden Age appearance. For us, however, it’s simply yet another classic Batman cover that stands the test of time.

  • Estimated Price: $150 USD (Raw High Grade)
  • Why It’s a Key: Second appearance of Ra’s al Ghul.
  • Why We Picked It: While most comic book covers tend to feature the most obvious scenes, Neal Adams work on Batman was anything but cliched, instead capturing epic storytelling moments in a single image. That’s exactly what you get with this incredible cover featuring a maskless Dark Knight in action.

  • Estimated Price: $150 USD (Raw High Grade)
  • Why It’s a Key: First appearance of the Reaper (aka Benjamin Gruener). Iconic horror cover.
  • Why We Picked It: This book is actually an unusual Batman key in that it’s based on a story idea inspired by legendary writer Harlan Ellison. It’s also unusual in that real-life DC comic creators Bernie Wrightson, Gerry Conway and Alan Weiss were drawn into the book. For our money though, this book remains a must-have Batman issue thanks to yet another stunning Neal Adams cover.

  • Why It’s a Key: 1st appearance of Colonel Sulphur
  • Why We Picked It: Possibly one of the most under appreciated gems in the long list of Neal Adams Batman covers, this issue may just be one of his very best, with the Caped Crusader captured in stunning detail and Adams’ flawless linework featured front and center.

  • Why It’s a Key: Reintroduced the Joker as a homicidal maniac.
  • Why We Picked It: Perhaps the most famous and iconic of all of Neal Adams’ covers, this issue is particularly noteworthy for bringing a new homicidal bent to the Joker, something that would go on to influence the Clown Prince of Crime throughout his long run in comics, television, video games and film. It’s an absolute masterpiece of a cover that’s had a massive influence on pop culture itself.

  • Estimated Price: $200 USD (Raw High Grade)
  • Why It’s a Key: First appearance of the werewolf, Anthony Lupus.
  • Why We Picked It: One of Neal Adams’ greatest strengths was his willingness to take risks in cover design, including using multiple panels and perspectives to achieve an overlook tone to each issue. That’s exactly what he’s done with this classic Batman cover that still holds up almost 50 years after it was first created.
The cover to Detective Comics #477 from 1978, illustrated by Neal Adams.

  • Why We Picked It: Another hallmark of Neal Adams’ work is his inspired use of angles to create a particular effect. In many cases a cover is tilted ever so slightly, which brings a sense of action and focus to the work that few artists are able to achieve. That’s exactly what you get in this stunning work of art that remains an under-appreciated (and undervalued) Batman cover.

  • Why It’s a Key: Variant cover.
  • Why We Picked It: It’s incredible to think that almost 60 years after first breaking into comic books, Neal Adams was still creating iconic Batman covers beloved by new and existing fans alike. Case in point is this stunning variant cover that shows that even in the twilight of his career, Adams was still pushing the envelope with his work.
