Hot Toys Spider-Man Black and Gold Suit Figure

Let’s face it: when it comes to costumes, Spider-Man has had more than his fair share of the years, with everything from his classic red and blue design, to the ridiculously legendary Bombastic Bag Man suit. Now enter this swanky Spider-Man black and gold suit variation, as featured in the Spider-Man: No Way Home film and brought to life with this new figure from Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles.

Featuring two interchangeable head sculpts and a variety of eyepieces and accessories, I preordered this bad boy from Sideshow as soon as we got wind that it was available. So what’s the verdict? Read on below to find out.

THE SPECS

As a classic Hot Toys sixth scale design, the Spidey figure comes in at just under 12-inches in height (not quite as large as the Hot Toys Thanos Infinity war figure I recently snagged, but still definitely a great display size). The craftsmanship and attention to detail here though is unbelievable, with the paintwork on the head sculpts in particular being incredibly realistic (honestly, I can’t even begin to figure out how Hot Toys pulls these off – and it seems like they’ve only gotten better over the past few years when it comes to capturing movie-calibre realism and skin tones). The figure also has a whopping 30 individual points of articulation in the neck, arms, legs and elbow joints, which allows for some really unique poses (I got mine in an awesome crouch that looks amazing next to some of my other Hot Toys figs).

  • Height: 11.81″
  • Width: 9″
  • Depth: 15″
  • Weight: 2 lbs

WHAT IT COMES WITH

One of the best parts of the Spider-Man Black and Gold suit figure is that it comes with two interchangeable heads: one featuring Tom Holland as Peter Parker and the other the standard Spidey mask. The latter also comes with a set of five interchangeable eye pieces so you can create a variety of different expressions with the fig. Both heads look absolutely awesome and there’s a ton of posability here that you just don’t get from static statues (which is really the biggest selling point for Hot Toys, in my opinion). In addition to the two heads and five eyepieces, you also get the following body parts:

  • x10 interchangeable hands, including:
    • x1 pair of fists
    • x1 pair of web shooting hands
    • x1 pair of open hands
    • x1 pair of gesture hands
    • x1 right web swinging hand
    • x1 left hand for holding the mask

Of course, Hot Toys is known for their epic costumes and here the Spider-Man Black and Gold suit figure doesn’t disappoint. The level of detail and fabric is unbelievable, and it’s really the trim and materials that makes this whole figure pop. With the costume you get:

  • x1 black and gold Spider-Man suit
  • x1 pair of black and gold boots

In typical Hot Toys fashion, there are also a number of accessories that bring the figure to life (because let’s face it, what Spidey fan didn’t lose their mind when they saw this costume on the big screen for the first time). In particular you get:

  • x1 mystical gauntlet for the left arm
  • x1 mystic spider web effect (which attaches to the gauntlet)
  • x1 circular mystic art effect (attachable to the chest via magnet)
  • x1 Spider-Man mask (not wearable, but attached via the added left hand)
  • x6 spider web strings (attachable to web shooters, with a variety of sizes and styles)

The Spider-Man Black and Gold suit figure also comes with a base stand that includes a nameplate and the movie logo. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention just how unbelievably gorgeous the Hot Toys/Sideshow packaging is. Seriously, their boxes are a work of art unto itself and really speaks to the high-end nature of the sculpt.

THE PRICE

As I’ve written about before, Hot Toys can be expensive, and this particular Spider-Man black and gold suit figure is likely to run you at least $400 USD after shipping and handling. That being said, it’s a small price to pay to have a figure with this level of detail and rocking one of the greatest new Spidey costumes of all time.

MY RATING

With its gorgeous details, unique accessories and faithful adaption to the film, the Spider-Man black and gold suit figure is easily one of the best Hot Toys figures I’ve come across in years and something any true Spidey fan will appreciate. At least until Sideshow releases a Bombastic Bag Man variant. 😉
