When it comes to one of the great comic book villains of all time, it’s hard to top everyone’s favorite big, purple, gauntlet-loving Mad Titan. That’s why I just had to get my nerdy little mitts on Hot Toys Thanos Infinity War Figure (even if I am a few years late to the party).
Based on the MCU version of the legendary villain, this particular sixth scale figure is an absolute masterpiece, with the exceptional movie-accurate detail that we’ve come to expect from Hot Toys and Sideshow. And while the figure has been out for awhile now, I finally decided to shell out and add it to my growing Hot Toys line of figures.
So is it worth the cost? Below I break out what you can expect if you decide to add this bad boy to your collection.
THE SPECS
As a sixth scale sculpt, the Hot Toys Thanos Infinity War figure stands a whopping 16-inches tall, putting it significantly above other figures from Sideshow and Hot Toys (which is only fitting given what a wrecker the Mad Titan is). He’s also surprisingly heavy, so make sure you have a decent display case or area prepped to support him. The paint work and the sculpting is also absolutely jaw dropping and the skin texture in particular is a work of art. The figure also features 20 individual points of articulation in the neck, arms and elbow joints, which allows for a full range of poses, just in case you’re looking to recreate a good old fashioned Infinity Gauntlet fist bump.
- Height: 16.33″
- Width: 14″
- Depth: 20″
- Weight: 8 lbs
WHAT IT COMES WITH
Probably the coolest aspect of the Hot Toys Thanos Infinity War figure is that it comes with two interchangeable head sculpts: one featuring an incredibly pissed-off Thanos and the other showcasing his a more serious, pensive style (hey, deep down he’s not so bad, right?). Both heads look absolutely amazing and the level of detail is incredible. For other body parts you also get:
- x1 additional interchangeable non-articulated left arm
- x3 interchangeable hands, including:
- x1 right fist
- x1 open right hand
- x1 gesturing right hand
The costume though is what really bring the figure to life, with the trim and fabric constructed out durable high-quality materials (with other figures I’ve snagged, fabric can sometimes feel cheap, but that’s definitely not the case here). The outfit itself includes:
- x1 blue-colored armor vest
- x1 dark gray pants
- x1 pair of brown and blue boots
Of course, no Thanos statue or figure is complete without an Infinity Gauntlet, and here’s where the figure really shines… literally. It comes with:
- x1 interchangeable LED-lit Infinity Gauntlet with individually articulated fingers
- x1 interchangeable LED-lit non-articulated Infinity Gauntlet with a clenched fist
Just bear in mind that while batteries are included, you will need button cells at some point.
Finally, the figure comes with movie-themed figure base with movie logo and backdrop. Although I don’t plan to use mine when displaying my Thanos, it is still pretty cool and a nice addition if you’re looking to build out a range of sculpts.
THE PRICE
In the past I’ve looked at why are Hot Toys so expensive, so there’s no beating around the bush here: The Hot Toys Thanos figure isn’t cheap and you’ll likely be dropping around $400 USD with shipping and handling included. That being said, the bang for your buck is absolutely worth it for a figure of this calibre. The Hot Toys collectors market is also on fire right now, so chances are you can always flip these bad boys and net a tidy profit in the near future (although I have no intention of letting my figure go anytime soon).
MY RATING
Featuring movie-quality details, breathtaking sculpture and paintwork, and a range of accessories and posable body parts, the Hot Toys Thanos Infinity War figure is a true work of art, and one I’m glad I finally managed to snag. If you’re a fan of the Mad Titan or Hot Toys, this figure is honestly a no brainer, with everyone’s favorite intergalactic despot finally getting the respect he deserves.
