Sideshow Captain Marvel Statue Reveal

The latest in their line of deluxe Marvel figures, we take a closer look at the new Premium Format Sideshow Captain Marvel statue.

One of the most iconic Avengers in terms of both comic books and the MCU, Captain Marvel has had her fair share of ups and downs over the years. First introduced in the pages of Marvel Super-Heroes #12 back in 1967, the original Captain Mar-vell was a male Kree, a race of intergalactic human-like warriors who come in both blue and pink skin tones (something that was acknowledged in the Marvel films).

The character was eventually killed off in 1982 at which time the Captain Marvel mantle was picked up Monica Rambeau, an African American harbor patrol officer who first appeared in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16, and was bombarded with extradimensional energy that granted her fantastic powers (something that the new MCU films also seem to be acknowledging).

Eventually, the Captain Marvel name was passed along to Carol Danvers, the Avenger who had previously gone by Ms. Marvel (among other names) and assumed the new role in the pages of Avenging Spider-Man #9 in 2012. Of course, that same character would later go on to grace the big screen in the 2019 film Captain Marvel, with the titular role played by Brie Larson.

Given her long history in both comics and films, it’s no surprise that over the years the Carol Danvers version of Captain Marvel has also appeared as a number of action figure and statues (including this amazing Avengers Assemble statue and this awesome Hot Toys Captain Marvel figure). Now enter this new Premium Format Sideshow Captain Marvel statue which is currently accepting RSVPs (after signing up you’ll be notified of when it’s available for purchase).

While Sideshow has only revealed a few images of the new Captain Marvel statue, what we’ve seen so far looks incredible. This particular figure is definitely based on the comic version of the character (rather than the Brie Larson MCU variant) and features the character in her trademarked red, gold and blue outfit and sash. The pose here in amazing, and we love the inclusion of the energy blasts coming from her hands. Fans and collectors can RSVP for more details by clicking on the link below.
