The latest in their line of deluxe X-Men statues, we take a closer look at the new Premium Format Psylocke statue from Sideshow Collectibles.
One of the most popular ass kicking X-Men of all time, Psylocke has remained a fan favorite for years. First appearing in the pages of X-Men #213, Betsy Braddock was introduced as the telepathic sister of Captain Britain. During Chris Claremont and Jim Lee’s legendary run in the 90s, however, Psylocke’s body was eventually transformed into the more modern version of the character after taking over the body of the ninja Kwannon. Later, Braddock took up the mantle of Captain Britain for herself, further adding to her epic comic book history. Fans may also be familiar with the version of the character played by Olivia Munn in the X-Men: Apocalypse film from 2016. More recently Psylocke has been featured as the main character in Marvel artist Peach Momoko’s Demon Days series.
Given her long history and popularity, it’s no surprise that over the years Psylocke has also appeared outside of comics and film, including a number of action figure and statues (including this amazing piece from Iron Studios). Now enter Sideshow’s latest Premium Format Psylocke statue which is currently accepting RSVPs (after signing up you’ll be notified of when the statue is available for purchase).
While Sideshow has only revealed a few images of the new Psylocke statue, what we’ve seen so far looks gorgeous. The figure stands approximately 21” tall and like all Sideshow Premium Format figures includes a dynamic base (with this version including a unique forced perspective background). The overall design creates a dramatic diorama and a gorgeous addition to any fan’s X-Men collection display.
