With the Black Adam movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hitting the big screen soon, DC is betting big on the character – who, let’s face, isn’t exactly a household name among mainstream audiences. So it’s no surprise that a new Hot Toys Black Adam figure is on its way.
While the figure won’t be available for purchase for a few more months, it’s yet another example of Hot Toys dipping its toes in the cinematic DC Extended Universe, and comes right on the heels of another recent announcement for the upcoming Hot Toys Batman tactical suit figure, based on the Zack Snyder Justice League film.
If you haven’t seen the movie trailer or know much about Black Adam, he’s a classic DC comic book supervillain who originally gained his powers in ancient Egypt and would later go on to become the arch enemy of Shazam and the Marvel Family. Over the years, his character has gone through a number of different incarnations, and in the new film is portrayed by The Rock as more of anti-hero than a world destroying bad ass.
In the case of the new Hot Toys Black Adam sixth-scale figure, they’ll actually be three versions available when it’s released: a Standard Version, a Deluxe Version and a Golden Armor version (we break out the details on each option below).
Each version will stand just under 13-inches tall and include 30 points of articulation in the hands, arms, legs, neck, feet and body. The figure is scheduled for release sometime between the end of 2023 and early 2024 and is currently available for pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles.
